The requirement to provide a Code of Practice and dispute resolution applies to any company that sells communications services such as fixed line, mobile or broadband to small businesses with less than 10 employees. This is Ofcom regulated.
As of 1st January 2016, Ombudsman Services has replaced the Communications and Internet Services Adjudication Scheme (CISAS) in this role. Under the scheme, customers who have an unresolved complaint with member companies of FCS can ask that their case be referred to Ombudsman Services : Communications who will try to resolve the dispute. Using the Ombudsman is free to the customer. If you are a domestic or small business customer of a communications company, you have the right to use this service. A small business customer is one that employs ten people or fewer. Ombudsman Services : Communications are approved by Ofcom, the independent regulator and competition authority for the UK communications industry.
