Telecoms overhaul for leading Highway Company
Forest Traffic Services Ltd are a leading traffic management contractor, delivering services to the highways, rail and utilities sectors for over 30 years through an extensive network of depots and offices throughout Wales, Southern England and the Midlands.
Their clients benefit because of the geographical presence within the UK. It is operated as a Hub and Spoke structure with the Hubs having a full complement of staff for all activities, backed up by the Spokes which are more focused on delivery and design. The HQ is based in Newport, South Wales with regional offices being based in Winchester, Bristol and Upton.
Being a 24/7 business with staff out on the roads needing to communicate with each other and for safety reasons, a robust and effective mobile solution is the lifeblood of Forest Traffic. Having been a customer on the Vodafone network for over 6 years and due to the nature of the work, the main focus was a reduction in cost without loss of service and network quality, but also a suitable hardware fund to cover replacement of handsets over a new 24 month contractual period. One of the biggest challenges for Forest was the fluctuating and unpredictable bills that were being seen. Having looked at the market, and based on the relationship that Forest Traffic had experienced with the management of the account by Matt in a previous company, it was decided to partner with Movoda Telecom and move to the O2 network. With the development of the new secure online billing portal and the management reporting tools available to administrators, the management of the account will be significantly smoother and costs controlled.
From provisioning of new sim cards through to user and cost centre allocation on the advanced online reporting portal, the transition of over 150 devices across multiple sites went smoothly and already the predicted level of financial savings are being achieved.
"The main aim of the project was to streamline the management of the company mobile fleet and deliver a level of savings back into the business. Off the back of this being achieved to date, it was agreed to look at the whole telecoms infrastructure to deliver a clean and robust service across the multiple sites. This will be on a phased approach over the next 6 months and is sure to deliver significant improvements into the way that the business operates" Matt Snelus - MD of Movoda
Following the success of the mobile fleet transfer from Vodafone to O2, it was agreed that Forest would move all of the current fixed line telephony across to Movoda to manage centrally to be delivered on the single monthly invoice. This is the first stage of the wider project of upgrading 5 of the main sites to a state of the art Hosted VoIP telephony system in the next few months with a view of rolling this out to the remaining sites by April 2016.
"As a business, mobile communications is an absolutely key part of ensuring our operation runs as smoothly as possible, so it was imperative that we chose a partner that we not only trust but that can deliver a cost effective and reliable service. With over 150 operatives on the road we need to know that when required, we have a team of people who can react quickly and resolve any issues that arise. The choice of moving to Movoda Telecom has certainly not disappointed and we are not only confident that when needed we have people on hand to help, but the quarterly review meetings ensure we are constantly keeping the costs within budget" Tracey Evans - Financial Controller
